May Wrap-up: Quilt Market & Shop Owner's Retreat at Crabapple Hill!

As usual it has been forever since I have written! However I bought this fancy new iPhone that I can sink with my computer and put a re-occurring date on my calender called BLOG! So every Tuesday I get a reminder to Blog... so I am sitting down and blogging! I need to make sure that I don't snooze it...

Here are some of the pictures that I have been taking in the last month or so! First was Quilt Market in Portland, OR... Mom and I ate at our favorite breakfast spot Mother's Bistro and had a Latte that was amazing! Some of the pictures below are of some of the beautiful fabric that will be arriving in the shop this fall! I was really loved Heather Baliey's booth... she had actual grass as her flooring! I had to share Sue Spargo's amazing quilt too! I discovered a great stationery shop too in Portland... Oblation Papers! If I didn't own a quilt shop I probably would own a papery! So i just buy sweet stationary for my collection! After quilt market mom and drove to Benton City, Wa to Crabapple Hill's Shop Owner's Retreat! Mom and I had the pleasure to spend two wonderful inspiring days at Meg Hawkey's Studio. We worked on an awesome project that she is still working and but let us work on one of the blocks! Can't wait to see what she comes up with I know it will be amazing! Mom and I truly enjoyed every moment that we spent together. Another trip that I turned a year older... 31! Hard to believe that I am 31 years old. Anyway our last part of the trip was about a day enjoying one of our favorite cities! Seattle... I just shared with you some of the beautiful fresh flowers at Pike's Market! The flowers were truly amazing...

I will be blogging next week about our trip to Rhinebeck, New York for Country Living Fair! I can't wait to show you how beautiful the booth looked! In the meantime I will be cleaning and re-arranging the shop. That my friends is what you call a creative mess maybe I will take some before and after pictures! Until next week... HOPEFULLY!

The Olive Grace Story

5 years has come and gone and oh how things have changed!

What is Olive Grace Studios ?
It is a sweet little quilt shop and a pattern and design company!

Who is behind Olive Grace Studios?

Me (Kori Turner-Goodhart) and the people that inspire me and the memory of people who I have loved and lost.

Since I was a little girl my mom and grandmas’ took me in and out of little quilt shops and surrounded me with fabric. I believe this is where the dream of opening a quilt shop all began. When I went away to college this enigma was put on the back burner. I received a B.F.A. in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art and Design and headed off to the corporate world of Interior Architecture. The path of climbing the corporate ladder was not for me and I looked back at the dream I had once envisioned. So I packed my apartment up in Washington D.C. and Dad moved me home to Fowler! I opened my little quilt shop in hopes of sharing my experiences through my pattern, hand picked sewing goods and gifts. Now I am designing and using the Olive Grace Studios brand as a path way to great things in the quilting industry.

Where is olive grace Studios, llc (an eccentric quilt shop)?

The little red school house at my parent’s home and my sewing studio in my home basement!

What is so ironic about my idea is that in the late 50’s the Dewitt sisters who’s family originally built my family’s home saved the schoolhouse from becoming a garage. The sister’s moved the one room schoolhouse to our property to become a retail space and McGuffy Reader Museum. They to had a big idea…Mable’s was to provide our community with music lessons and Evelyn’s was to have a quilt shop and classes. Although the sisters never opened their own shop I hope in some way I am making their dream come true too.
